The players who would represent Pakistan at the ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup in 2023 have been discussed publicly by team director Mickey Arthur. In an interview with a local Pakistani news channel, Arthur discussed the decisions made in choosing players like Imad Wasim, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir, Haris Sohail, as well as Umar Akmal. The team that recently competed versus New Zealand in a home ODI series will serve as the foundation for Pakistan’s teams at the upcoming ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup, according to Arthur.

The ODI World Cup 2023’s highly anticipated India vs.Pakistan match is scheduled to occur on October 15 in Ahmedabad. In addition, Arthur discussed the difficulties that his team will encounter when competing in front of an audience of this magnitude, particularly in Ahmedabad, which is home to the biggest stadium for cricket in the world. He also highlighted that, regardless of the setting, his team is capable of defeating any team in the world.

We are going to win the World Cup: Mickey Arthur

Mickey Arthur said, “We picked a squad that played against New Zealand. That is the squad we are going to draw from [for Asia Cup and World Cup]. Haris Sohail was in that squad but he didn’t play because of fitness issues. A couple of those guys have put their names up lately, but the squad we had for the New Zealand series and the squad that will go for these events won’t differ much.”

It’s interesting to note that Pakistan as well as Sri Lanka will co-host the 2023 Asia Cup but the Indian squad will play all of its matches outside of Pakistan. Pakistan has not yet made it clear whether they will travel to India to compete in the ODI World Cup in 2023. The South African then spoke about his ambitions with the Pakistan national team. He said, “We are going to win the World Cup and the Test series in Australia In Shaa Allah.”
