Asia Cup 2023

‘Jay Shah ko baarish bohot pasand hogi’ – Fans react to reports of constant rain interruptions for India’s clash against Sri Lanka during Asia Cup 2023

Rain has been predicted for India’s Asia Cup Super Four clash against Sri Lanka on Tuesday

On Sunday, September 10th, the Men in Blue faced off against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to open the Super Fours tournament. However, continuous rain forced the match onto the scheduled reserve day after only 24.1 overs of play during the scheduled day, despite hopes for a full match.

Surprisingly, despite rain being expected in Colombo during India’s match against Pakistan, things got off to a good start with bright skies and sunlight. When given the opportunity to bat first, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma, as well as his opening companion Shubman Gill, took advantage of the favourable batting conditions. The pair outperformed half-centuries, establishing a century-long partnership.

Pakistan re-entered the game as Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi, respectively, removed Rohit and Gill. But the weather gods had other ideas. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of Pakistan’s Super 4s match against India, the Men in Blue are scheduled to face co-hosts Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the same venue.

The likelihood of precipitation may drop to 84% with a 95% chance of cloud cover throughout the day, although the likelihood of cloud cover remaining all day is high. Regarding India’s participation at the Asia Cup 2023, the weather in Kandy forced the cancellation of their opening match against Pakistan. The weather isn’t shaping up to be in their favour, either, as rain postponed their Super 4s match against Pakistan and ruined their group-stage match against Nepal.

Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup 2023 campaign up till now?

At the Asia Cup 2023’s Super 4 stage opener on Saturday in Colombo, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs. As Bangladesh collapsed for 236 in 48.1 overs while defending 257, skipper Dasun Shanaka, Matheesha Pathirana, as well as Maheesh Theekshana each claimed three wickets.

The only standout with a bat in the Bangladesh camp was Towhid Hridoy, who had little help from his colleagues. Hridoy was one of the team’s top performers in this competition, scoring 82 runs off 97 balls.
