Hardik Pandya’s maiden stint as captain in Indian T20 League is going great guns. Earlier this year, Pandya joined the newly-inducted Gujarat and was appointed as their skipper. In the first 10 games played by the team, the Ahmedabad-based team has won eight, virtually qualifying for the playoffs. They have only lost to Hyderabad and Punjab in the tournament.

Ahead of the team’s next game against Mumbai, the franchise has uploaded a video of their skipper about his journey in the cash-rich league. In a more than a minute-video, he spoke about his first ‘Player of the Match’ which came for his former team Mumbai against Chennai. The Baroda-player won the award in his first season with the five-time winners in 2015. The 28-year-old added that he has a lot of memories with his former team.

Further in the video, the right-hander revealed his conversation with his close friend Kieron Pollard. The former jokingly said that he wishes to have the former West Indies skipper in the team, but also said that this wasn’t going to happen.

“I wish Polly (Pollard) to have the best day for him, but we win. I kind of messaged him a few days back as well that hope you’re okay and hope you’re doing well. I said we kind of miss you here. In a joking way, I said ‘You never know, you might come to us next year!’ It’s my wish but I know it’s never going to happen,” said Hardik.
