‘It’s better to be not in public view’ – Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja criticizes Wasim Akram for unruly behaviour during PSL game

Ramiz Raja & Wasim Akram

Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram attracted controversy after furiously reacting in a Pakistan Super League game. As a result of his heated outburst during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings, Pakistani great Wasim Akram received harsh criticism from fans on social media. The Pakistani legend pounded the sofa in front of him in an angry manner after his team Kings lost the match in a last-ball thriller.

Akram’s reaction was caught on camera and soon went viral on social media. His reaction was not only criticized by fans but also by former Cricketers. Now Ramiz Raja, the former president of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has joined the chorus in criticizing him. Criticizing Akram’s reaction, Raja said that the Karachi Kings president should have reacted in a more respectful manner.

“You can’t do anything while sitting outside. You have to back the players you have selected. You need to analyze things with a cool head. These gestures only create more frustration,” Ramiz Raja said while speaking with a news agency. He further said that Akram should respect his position and should control his temper.

“Plus, it doesn’t look good in terms of optics, if you can’t control your temper, which is most important in this position, so it is better to be not in public view,” he further asserted.

Karachi Kings failed to impress in PSL this year

As far as Karachi Kings’ performance in the Pakistan Super League season 8 is considered, the franchise has failed to put up a show for their fans. They have lost the first four games out of five they played this season. The only game they won was against Lahore Qalandars when they beat later by 67 runs. The PSL 2020 champions are placed fourth at the moment and have to win almost all of their last 5 matches if they are to qualify for the playoffs.
