Indian Women’s cricket team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur withdrew from the Women’s Big Bash League due to back issues. She had earlier missed Melbourne Renegades’ opening two matches as she was playing in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. The Indian skipper took the team to their seventh Asia Cup victory.

The right-hand batter was expected to join Melbourne Renegades from their third match of WBBL. However, the right-hand batter has announced her withdrawal from the league citing back issues.

“Harmanpreet was fantastic for us last season and we were looking forward to having her as part of our squad again this year, but unfortunately she has been ruled out through injury. Eve will stay on with our squad for at least the next couple of matches, as we work through the best strategy for our squad for the remainder of the tournament,” said James Rosengarten, Melbourne Renegades general manager.

The Indian skipper seems to be in good mood after the announcement and has taken to Twitter to post a positive tweet. Kaur incidentally met some little fans while walking outside and the interaction with young fans turned her emotional.

“I’m glad to have met these little girls today who came running towards me and said: Are you the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team? We watch u play. I reply saying “Yes”. The minute they left I realised that I’m doing the right thing and it makes a difference. #humbled, “wrote Kaur in a heartfelt twitter post.

Harmanpreet Kaur recently took the India team to their seventh Asia Cup win after they defeated Bangladesh in the final. Earlier they had defeated the Pakistan team in the Semi-final as well. This year’s Women’s Asia Cup was held in Bangladesh as they had won the last edition.
