After a day of drama, 72 players got a deal at the IPL auction 2024. The mini-auction took place at the iconic Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Star Australia pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins had a great time in the auction as both breached the INR 20 crore mark. However, the highlight of the auction was Rajasthan Royal’s owner’s comments about Virat Kohli.

In a recent interview with Business of Sport, the co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals made headlines by expressing a strong desire to bring Virat Kohli to the team. When asked about the one player he would sign for the Royals, considering both past and present, the co-owner unequivocally named the stalwart Indian batsman.

It’s worth noting that Kohli has been an integral part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise since its inception in 2008. Kohli’s consistency, leadership, and undeniable impact on the team’s performance have been exceptional. However, Kohli is surely not going anywhere, as his soul lies with RCB. While stepping down as skipper of the team, Kohli has said that he will retire from RCB only.

Virat Kohli is in South Africa to complete an unfinished task

After winning test matches as skipper in all SENA countries, the star India batter is aiming for a series victory in South Africa. India, under the leadership of Kohli, failed to win the series on its last tour and will be keen to get it done this time.

Under the leadership of skipper Rohit Sharma, the team has started preparations in South Africa. The team is currently engaging in a 3-day intra-squad practice game. It’s noteworthy that India will take on the hosts in the first test match at Centurion on December 26th. The second game will be played in Capetown on January 3rd.

A series win here will help India stay at the top of the ongoing World Test Championship 2023–25 cycle. The top two teams will face each other in the finals in England. India currently tops the chart, followed by Pakistan and Australia.
