After picking up an adductor injury, David Warner will not play in the last Twenty20 International match versus New Zealand in Auckland. However, he should be well in time for the IPL 2024 to begin next month. He was given a rest for the second Twenty20 International on Friday as an element of Australia’s series-long rotation plan.

It is anticipated that Warner would recover in seven to ten days. Warner’s career as a bilateral international player comes to an end with his absence from the series finale; he will retire from Australia’s Australian team in time for the T20 World Cup in June. He made 32 runs off 20 balls in the opening game in Wellington before the home crowd heckled him off the field. It reminded everyone of what Warner had said before about the crowd dynamics during the 2016 tour.

Steven Smith now has another chance to establish himself at the top of the team’s lineup and maybe lock down a spot in the World Cup team thanks to Warner’s absence. Smith scored an outrageous six off the opening delivery of Lockie Ferguson’s spell. But his short knock of 11 runs from 7 balls ended there.

Despite Smith’s prospects, it doesn’t appear probable that he will start for his country at the World Cup. Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, and Warner are most likely to take the first three slots.

Key players to be rested for final T20I against New Zealand?

Matt Short is anticipated to make another appearance. He participated in the first Wellington encounter but did not contribute with the bat or the ball. There’s a chance Matthew Wade will assume leadership in the event Mitch Marsh is rested before the Test series.

After playing in the previous two games, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are expected as well to be rested. Mitchell Starc and Spencer Johnson will likely come in as substitutes.
