The infamous El Clasico of Indian Cricket, Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings returned in its Major League Cricket (MLC) form in the second qualifier of the tournament as MI New York faced the Texas Super Kings with a berth in the final at stake. Having already beaten Washington Freedom in the Eliminator, MI New York were is good touch coming into the game. Texas Super Kings, on the other hand, had to face defeat at the hands of the Seattle Orcas in the first qualifier.

The MI New York won the toss and elected to field first. They restricted the Super Kings to a manageable total of 158 runs, bundling them out inside the quota of 20 overs. Devon Conway top-scored with 38 off 35, including three fours and one six. He was closely followed by Milind Kumar who scored 37 off 34 with the same boundary count as Conway. Trent Boult returned with match-winning figures of 4/24 in four overs whereas Tim David scalped two in his single over. Ehsan Adil and Rashid Khan returned with one wicket apiece from the game.

MI New York and Seattle Orcas to meet in the summit clash of MLC 2023

In reply, MI New York chased the target down with an over to spare. Dewald Brevis remained not out at 41 off 33, including one four and two sixes. Alongside him David Wiese with 19 off 11, including a maximum took the team over the finish line. Opener Shayan Jahangir with 36 off 18, including five fours and two sixes set up the foundation for the chase. Skipper Nicholas Pooran smashed 23 off 20, including two maximums whereas Tim David hit 33 off 20, including four maximums to help the team on the way.

The MI New York will now face Seattle Orcas in the final of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023. The final game is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 31 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
