‘IPL be like – Chal mere nuksaan ka paise nikal’ – Fans baffled as Arshdeep Singh breaks stumps twice worth 24 lakhs during MI vs PBSK game in IPL 2023
Arshdeep Singh took a four-wicket haul to take Punjab Kings over the line against Mumbai Indians.
Punjab Kings pacer, Arshdeep Singh created havoc in the last over of the game against Mumbai Indians on April 22. Defending 16 runs, the left-arm bowler took the wickets of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhere on the third and fourth balls respectively. During the process, the middle stump had to replace twice as the India bowler broke them as many times. Not that it was his fault though.
Apparently, the ball hit the part where cameras were installed for the stump angle. This helps the third umpire to make a call in case of a stumping referral. Meanwhile, the 2018 U19 World Cup made a rare record of breaking the stumps twice in a game. The stumps were worth 30 lakhs each and has created a buzz on social media.
This is how Twitter reacted

Isn’t the center stump a normal stump with hollow space to allow camera and wires. I’ve not seen LED / ZING in center but only on the bails and two stumps.

As an Honest Mumbai Indians Fan..I can confirm that Rohit Sharma hasn't done anything notable for our franchise during his career like Pollard.

Arshdeep Singh and the bowlers deserve the Player of the Match award: Sam Curran
Meanwhile, after the 13-run against MI, PBKS stand-in skipper, Curran was chosen as the Player of the Match. He hit 55 off 29 balls when the team was reduced to 83/4. With Harpreet Singh Bhatia, the England all-rounder took the team to 214/8. Jitesh Sharma (25) also contributed to the cause. On the other hand, Arshdeep took a four-wicket in midst of a run feast at the Wankhede Stadium.
“Feels good whenever I take wickets, the win makes the feeling better. Before IPL, I changed my run-up and it helped me with avoiding no-balls. The rhythm is nice and I’m enjoying my cricket right now. (Mindset) Calmness comes naturally, my heart rate doesn’t even go up to 120 (laughs),” Arshdeep Singh said in the post-match.
“Credit to Arshdeep for his bowling, not our day today but we gave a good fight,” MI skipper Rohit Sharma said.
“Don’t think I should be getting the award, with the way our pacers finished the match, Arshdeep and Nathan were incredible and the spinners bowled well,” Player of the Match, Sam Curran said.
