Three players Chennai Super Kings might release ahead of the IPL 2024 Auctions at the end of the year.
Chennai Super Kings are the undoubted powerhouses of the Indian Premier League. MS Dhoni and his side won their fifth IPL title in dramatic fashion beating Gujarat in the finals. The title win put them on par with Mumbai Indians who also have won five IPL titles.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions the Chennai Super Kings management has a lot of tough calls to make. One of the biggest decision staring at the CSK management is the players they have to release ahead of the big auctions in Dubai on the 19th of December.
Here are the three likely players Chennai Super Kings might release ahead of the huge IPL 2024 auctions.
Ben Stokes –
Chennai Super Kings broke the bank to acquire the services of Ben Stokes after his performance in the 2022 World T20 final. The English test skipper played just two games before getting injured. Owing to this, he had to miss the remaining part of the IPL 2023 season.
In his two games for Chennai Super Kings, the 32-year-old scored just 15 runs with the bat with a best score of 8 runs. With the ball, Ben Stokes got just one over where he was hit for 18 runs.
Ben Stokes is set to miss the India tour as he will get a surgery done on his left knee. He might miss a considerable amount of cricketing time which includes the IPL. Chennai Super Kings will want to cut costs and release the dynamic England player.
Kyle Jamieson –
New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson was set to come back to cricket after an injury. Chennai Super Kings paid 1 Crore Rupees to acquire the services of the tall Kiwi. He has a great experience of taking wickets at any stage of the game which is a benefit for CSK.
Just before the TATA IPL 2023 season could begin the Kiwi got an injury and had to pull out of the tournament completely. CSK management might want to part ways with the Kiwi international considering his historic injury list. His form after his initial rise has surely dipped and the side can get much better players for his price.
Bhagath Varma –
The 25-year-old from Hyderabad has been with the Chennai Super Kings since 2021. In the three seasons of the Indian Premier League, Bhagath Varma is yet to make his IPL debut. The upcoming IPL 2024 auctions might be the right time for both parties to end their association. The franchise always produce young talents throughout their rich IPL history. They would be hoping for some youngster to outshine the others ahead of the IPL auctions.
