T20’s biggest spectacle is set to begin in just under two months. IPL over the years has seen many batters come up with some terrific records. Brendon McCullum scored 158 in the very first game of the tournament. Chris Gayle smashed 175 to set the IPL record which has stood the test of time.
One cannot overlook the importance bowlers play for their teams during the tournament. Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga, and Yuzvendra Chahal are some of the biggest names with the ball in hand.

5- Jasprit Bumrah – Mumbai Indians -5/10 vs Kolkata Knight Riders
IPL 2022 was a campaign to forget for Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma. The game against Kolkata Knight Riders saw Mumbai Indians lose yet another game. Seamer Jasprit Bumrah picked 5/10 which was his first fifer. Despite finishing on the losing side it is one of IPL’s best bowling spells.
4- Anil Kumble – Royal Challengers Bangalore – 5/5 vs Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals came into IPL 2009 as the defending champions. In their very first game, the Shane Warne-led side were brought crashing down to earth. Anil Kumble showed his experience and class to pick 5/5. Needing 134 to win, the Royals were all out for 58 as Anil Kumble recorded one of IPL’s best bowling spells.
3- Adam Zampa – Rising Pune Supergiants – 6/19 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
It is surprising despite being called one of the best white ball spinners, Adam Zampa has played fewer IPL matches. With 6/19 during his stint with Rising Pune Super Giants, the Aussie has IPL’s 3rd-best bowling spell. His victims that day included Kane Williamson, Yuvraj Singh, and Moises Henriques. This was followed by the wickets of Deepak Hooda, Naman Ojha, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
2- Sohail Tanvir – Rajasthan Royals – 6/14 vs Chennai Super Kings
In the first season of IPL, Pakistani cricketers marked their only presence in the league. Sohail Tanvir left the Chennai Super Kings bamboozled with his unique style of bowling. With figures of 6/14, the Pakistani pacer recorded IPL’s second-best bowling spell. Needless to say on the back of that effort the Royals went on to win the game with ease.
1- Alzarri Joseph – Mumbai Indians – 6/12 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
Taking the top spot is West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph who has unsettled the best in the business. Mumbai Indians batted first and scored 136 on the board as Kieron Pollard top-scored with 46. Alzarri Joseph took the stage and bowled IPL’s best bowling spell to record 6/12 from his 3.4 overs. Mumbai bowled out Hyderabad for a mere 96 runs to win the match by 40 runs.
