IPL 2023: Five players with most ducks in their careers

Some legendary players have entered the most embarrassing list.

Getting a duck in any format of the game can embarrassing for batters. In IPL cricket since 2008, there have been many legendary players who have somehow managed to put their names on this list. Even though they have done well for their respective teams, still they can’t erase their names as they have done the damage quite a lot of times. In this listicle, we will discuss five players with the most ducks.

1. Dinesh Karthik

The wicketkeeper batter has played for Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, and now defunct Gujarat Lions. Currently, he is playing for the RCB. Meanwhile, over the years, he has played 233 games and has 4386 runs averaging 26.42 including 20 fifties.

On the other hand, he jointly tops the ladder of most ducks in the cash-rich league too. In the last 15 years, he has bagged as many ducks including the one he bagged in the ongoing game against his former team, Delhi Capitals.

2. Mandeep Singh

Another player who has played for multiple teams has bagged the most ducks in the tournament. He has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals. Currently, he is playing for KKR and is doing his second stint with the team.

Meanwhile, he has played 110 games since making his debut in 2010 and has 1366 runs averaging 20.91 including six fifties. On the other hand, he has 15 ducks to his name, sitting alongside Karthik.

3. Sunil Narine

Known for his bowling, the Trinidadian has only played for KKR since making his debut in 2012. He has picked 158 wickets in 152 games averaging 24.92 including seven four-wicket and one five-wicket haul.

On the other hand, he is no muck with the bat either as he has 1032 runs to his name. However, Narine has 14 ducks to his name, only one behind Karthik and Singh.

4. Rohit Sharma

The Mumbai Indian skipper is one of the leading run-getters in the IPL of all time after playing 230 games. Having played for now-defunct Deccan Chargers and MI, the six-time IPL winner has amassed 5966 runs averaging 30.28 including a hundred and 41 fifties.

On the other hand, he is in the second spot jointly with Sunil Narine in terms of ducks, i.e 14.

5. Piyush Chawla

Another player known for his bowling has played for Punjab Kings, KKR, Chennai Super Kings, and is now playing for MI. Since making his debut in 2008, the 2011 World Cup winner has played 168 games, taking 161 wickets and averaging 27.22 including two four-wicket hauls.

With the bat, the left-hander has 532 runs including 18 sixes and 54 fours. On the other hand, he has 13 ducks to his name too.
