Gujarat comprehensively beat Rajasthan by 37 runs in the 24th match of the Indian T20 League. Rajasthan made the obvious choice of bowling first at the DY Patil Stadium. Sent in to bat first, Gujarat did not have the desired start. They lost Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar early on. Wade was run out by a direct hit from Rassie van der Dussen in the second over, and Shankar lost his wicket to Kuldeep Sen in the third over. Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya batted through the powerplay as they reached 42 runs in the first six overs. However, Gill could survive for long. He lost his wicket to Riyan Parag in the seventh over.

Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar then took the responsibility to battle out. The duo anchored the innings initially then went berserk in the latter half of the innings. Manohar added 43 runs on the board in 28 balls, with four fours and two sixes before getting out to Chahal in the 16th over. He along with Hardik Pandya added 86 runs on the board. David Miller then joined Pandya and went all-out.

They helped Gujarat reach 192 runs in the first innings. Pandya remained not out on 87 runs in 52 balls, with five fours and four sixes. This was his second-highest score in the tournament. Miller also added important runs on the board as he scored 31 runs in 14 balls, hitting five fours and one six.

Jos Buttler gave Rajasthan the perfect start to the chase. Despite losing Padikkal early, Rajasthan had a brilliant powerplay and added 65 runs. However, on the last ball of the powerplay, he was dismissed for 54 in 24 balls.

Trouble kept coming for Rajasthan as Sanju Samson was run out from a direct throw by Pandya in the 8th over. Rassie van der Dussen also was dismissed by Dayal in the 11th over. Half of Rajasthan’s side was sent back for 90 runs. Shimron Hetmyer tried hard to get quick runs but he could only add 29 runs in 17 balls. The wicket of Hetmyer marked the end of Rajasthan’s hopes. The team could only score 155-9 in 20 overs and lost the match by 37 runs.
