Indian T20 League: Match 2- Delhi vs Mumbai: Top three matchups to watch out for
The second match of the Indian T20 League 2022 will be between Delhi and Mumbai. Mumbai will be looking to win their 6th title this season, while Delhi will try and achieve their first title win. While the two teams will be fighting it out at the Brabourne stadium in the first day game of the tournament, there will be some face-offs within the match that will make the match more interesting.
Lets’ look at three such matchups within the competition that will decide the fate of the clash between Delhi and Mumbai. The winners of the following encounters will give their team a good advantage in the match.
1. Prithvi Shaw vs Jasprit Bumrah: Prithvi Shaw will be the man on whom Delhi will depend to get a quick and solid start. Shaw’s Indian T20 league career strike rate is 146.30 while in the last season he batted with a strike rate of 159.13. So, Shaw lasting for 5-6 overs can take the game away from Mumbai. Rohit Sharma will look to dismiss Prithvi as early as possible. His main weapon against the attacking opener will be Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah bowls with an economy rate of 7.42, which is very impressive. Bumrah with his variations upfront will look to dismiss Prithvi Shaw early and give Mumbai a good start.
2. Tim David vs Kuldeep Yadav: Tim David is the new Singaporean buy for Mumbai. In his T20 career, he has a strike rate of 159. So, Mumbai will be looking at David to improve their scoring rate in the middle overs. During this stage, Delhi will be using Kuldeep Yadav as the bowler. Kuldeep has not been in his best form, so he will be under pressure to deliver. But Kuldeep will look to perform better this season and come back into the mainframe of Indian cricket. So, it could be an interesting and exciting face-off between the as both will try to impress with their performance.
3. Rishabh Pant vs Mayank Markande: In Indian T20 League the Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant has a strike rate of 147.46 On his day he can change the course of any match in a matter of some deliveries. Rishabh will most probably be seen in the middle overs for Delhi. There are chances that he will face the leg-spinner from Mumbai, Mayank Markande. Markande impressed in his debut season but has been inconsistent since. With the ball coming into Pant will look to go aggressive against the spinner. How Markande handles the pressure and responds in the situation will be a key factor in the match.
