Indian T20 League: Five former Bangalore players who are now a part of Mumbai’s support staff

Mumbai, who placed last in the 2022 season’s points standings, has made some adjustments to their coaching staff for the Indian T20 League 2023. For the first time in the competition’s history, the five-time champions placed last in the standings last year. In 2023, Mumbai plans to make a comeback. It’s interesting to note that five Mumbai support staff members have previously worked as Bangalore representatives. These are the names of those five people.

#1 Mark Boucher- Head coach of Mumbai in 2023

Mark Boucher, a former head coach of the South African team, will take charge of an Indian T20 League franchise in 2023 for the first time in his professional career. Mahela Jayawardene, Mumbai’s former head coach, was elevated to a global position and replaced by Boucher, who will coach Mumbai’s team in the competition.

During his playing days, Boucher represented Bangalore and Kolkata in the cash-rich tournament. He participated in 27 games for Bangalore, scoring 388 runs with a 128.05 strike rate.

#2 Zaheer Khan- Head of cricket development

Zaheer Khan, a former Indian cricketer, has been a member of the Mumbai support team for a while now. Ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023, he was promoted to the position of Global Head of Cricket Development.

Khan represented Bangalore in 44 of his Indian T20 League games. In those matches, he took 49 wickets, with 4/17 being his best performance.

#3 R Vinay Kumar- Talent Scout and Bowling coach of MI Emirates

R Vinay Kumar is another ex-Indian pacer who is included on the list. He began working for the Mumbai franchise as a talent scout and soon after was appointed the bowling coach for MI Emirates, Mumbai’s new team in the SA 20 League.

For the Bangalore team, Kumar has participated in 64 games, taking 72 wickets at an 8.38 economy rate. His 4/40 bowling figures were his best for the team.

#4 Parthiv Patel- Talent Scout and Batting coach of MI Emirates

Prior to being hired as the batting coach for MI Emirates, Parthiv Patel, like Vinay Kumar, joined the Mumbai team as a talent scout. During his playing career in the past, he was a crucial member of the team.

Throughout his Indian T20 League career, Patel played 32 games for the Bangalore-based team. In 32 innings, he amassed 731 runs at a strike rate of 130.07.

#5 Arunkumar Jagadeesh- Assistant batting coach of Mumbai in 2023

Arunkumar Jagadeesh was hired by Mumbai as their new assistant batting coach for the 2023 season, which was a major announcement made yesterday. He has won the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Irani Trophy, and the Ranji Trophy.

The Bangalore-based team in the 2008 Indian T20 League included Jagadeesh as well. He contributed to the team by playing three games and scoring 23 runs at a strike rate of 100.
