The Indian T20 League is ready to take over the country with its latest edition set to start from 26th March,2022. The fans will again be waiting to see some marvelous all-round show by the teams.
One of the biggest attractions of the upcoming season will again be the monstrous sixes. So, before the Indian T20 League’s 15th season starts, let us look at the teams with most number of sixes in the Indian T20 League history.
5. Kolkata (1113 Sixes)
The Kolkata franchise has seen one of the most remarkable turn arounds in fortune form the 2011 season. Kolkata has lifted the trophy twice. They have included players like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine and others who are known for their big hits.
Kolkata with 1113 sixes in 209 matches finds the fifth spot in this list. The average sixes per game for Kolkata is 5.32 The Indian T20 league followers will be expecting to witness many more big and deep hits in the upcoming season.
4. Chennai (1165 Sixes)
Chennai is the team with second most number of titles in Indian T20 League history (4). The team of Chennai has been most consistent among all the teams qualifying for the play-offs in all the seasons except one in which it has participated.
The yellow jersey has been donned by some greats of T20 in Matthew Hayden, Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and others. Chennai as a team has hit 1165 sixes form 195 matches. The average number of sixes for Chennai is thus 5.97.
3. Punjab (1166 Sixes)
Punjab has been trophy-less till now in the 14 years of Indian T20 League. But this does not take anything away from the fact that some of the most attacking batsmen in Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh, Shaun Marsh have played for the franchise.
Punjab has played 204 Indian T20 League games as a team hitting 1166 sixes in them. The number of sixes from Punjab is thus 5.71 per match.
2. Bangalore (1275 Sixes)
Bangalore has always been a batting heavy team. Some of the most prolific hitters in Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli have played for Bangalore over the years. Though a team without titles Bangalore find themselves in the second spot for the most number of sixes in the Indian T20 League history.
Bangalore has played in 211 IndianT20 League matches, in which the team has been able to hit 1275 sixes. This means Bangalore hits about 6.04 sixes in every match.
1. Mumbai (1308 Sixes)
Mumbai is the team with most number of titles. The team of Mumbai has always been comprised of some of the biggest hitters of the game. Players like Sanath Jayasuriya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and many such big hitters have been an integral part of the team and their consistent performance in the league.
Mumbai have played about 217 matches in the Indian T20 League, which is the highest in the league’s history. In these 217 matches the team of Mumbai has hit 1308 sixes at rate of about 6.02 sixes per match.
