Indian T20 League 2023: Three Australian players who might go unsold in mini-auction
One of the players was a part of the Lucknow franchise last year.
The Indian T20 League is one of the much-anticipated and the most loved tournament across the world, although one could compare the quality with the Big Bash League hosted by Australia. However, with every passing year, the Indian T20 League is attracting crowds in huge numbers and making a name for itself.
As things stand, the mini-auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League is set to take place on December 23, in Kochi. A total of 405 cricketers will go under the hammer on the day and we decided to handpick three Australians who might go unsold in the auction.
Here are the three players from Australia who might go unsold in the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction:
1) Nathan Coulter-Nile
Nathan Coulter-Nile was a part of the Rajasthan franchise in the previous edition of the Indian T20 League, as the think tank managed to pick him up from the mega auction in the second round for a base price of INR 2 crore after going unsold in the first round.
However, the fiery Australian pacer was ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022 after getting 1 game to his name. The Kangaroo star might find it difficult to attract a bid and make a cut to the approaching season of the T20 extravaganza, given his proven vulnerability to injuries.
2) Moises Henriques
Moises Henriques’ best stint in the Indian T20 League came in 2016 when the allrounder was a part of the Hyderabad franchise, eventually helping the team to win the title post defeating the Bangalore franchise in the epic summit clash.
However, since then, Henriques has been out of the radar and eventually, on the back of his poor run in the previous year in T20 domestics, the allrounder went unsold in the mini-auction and it remains to be seen if either of the teams would pick him up, although it is highly unlikely.
3) Andrew Tye
Known for his ability to pick wickets of knuckleballs, Andrew Tye played for the Lucknow franchise in the Indian T20 League 2022 edition, after going unsold in the mega-auction. The pacer was roped in as the replacement for star English bowler Mark Wood, who was ruled out of the tournament last year.
However, Tye had a sepulchral outing last year as he bagged only 2 scalps and with a lack of wickets under his belt, it is highly likely for the teams to overlook Tye, given that 21 cricketers from Australia will go under the hammer on the auction day.
