With the conclusion of the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction, the ten teams are all set for the upcoming season. The auction saw some great drama unfold in Kochi as many players broke the bank to bag big bucks. Sam Curran, Cameron Green, Ben Stokes, and Nicholas Pooran were the hottest buys of the auction, and they will look forward to the start of the upcoming season. In this article, we will look at the top teams with the best squads for Indian T20 League 2023.
#1 Mumbai
The five-time champions, Mumbai, had a great day at the auction. To begin with, they bagged Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green, and then purchased Jhye Richardson and leg spinner Piyush Chawla later on. With this, the Mumbai team managed to fill in all the voids in their team.
In addition, Jofra Archer will now be available for the Mumbai team, giving them a significant boost. The team led by Rohit Sharma will now look to forget the horrifying 2022 season and make the most of the upcoming season with a great squad.
#2 Chennai
The Chennai team had one of the best purchases at the auction as they bagged England’s Test captain Ben Stokes for a whopping price of 16.25 crores. This gives their team great depth in all-rounders and also brings in a potential captaincy candidate.
They also got their hands on Kyle Jamieson which improves their fast bowling lineup as they also have Deepak Chahar in their squad. The Men in Yellow kept their core and attempted to fill in the gaps. They would now like to redeem themselves after a horrible season last year.
#3 Gujarat
Gujarat, the defending champions, had a great strategy of not spending a lot of money in the auction because they already had a good core from the previous season. They did, however, manage to secure some big names in the auction. Kane Williamson and Joshua Little have been added to the team for the upcoming season.
The team led by Hardik Pandya now has a great mix of experienced players and young players. They will, however, have to figure out how to manage their playing XI now that they have a star-studded overseas contingent.
