Mumbai and Chennai will lock horns at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai on April 21. Both teams have had a forgettable season so far. The former have lost all their six games while the latter have only won one out of six games. Both teams will be looking forward to overcoming their lean patch as time is slowly running out.

Team News

Mumbai: The team have been struggling in the bowling department as they have conceded runs at an economy of more than nine. Their batters have been inconsistent which is why the Mumbai-based franchise are at the last spot in the points table. After hitting two back-to-back fifties, Ishan Kishan has been struggling with the bat. Mumbai’s batting is highly dependent on Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. However, they might make only one change in the team in the form of Riley Meredith, who might replace Tymal Mills. They will also hope that the other batters find form at this stage of the tournament.

Key Players:

Dewald Brewis: The right-hander from South Africa has scored 117 runs in four games. He looks very assured as a batter and has been taking the attack to the opposition bowlers. He might be able to do well in the next game as well.

Jasprit Bumrah: After the three-wicket haul against Rajasthan, he too has struggled in the tournament so far. Keeping aside Mumbai’s game against the 2008-champions, he has only taken one wicket. However, he has the knack of making a comeback and thus, could get back to the groove this time around.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen, Jaydev Unadkat, M Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Chennai: The defending champions have been struggling in the pace bowling department. The absence of Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne has hurt them big time. The former has been ruled out of the season while the latter is still nursing an injury. Spinners such as Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja have done well but they would be needing some support from other bowlers. Meanwhile, their opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad gained some form with an innings of 73 runs against Gujarat. Expect the team to replace Chris Jordan with Dwaine Pretorius as the English pacer has been struggling with the ball.

Key Players:

Ruturaj Gaikwad: Last year’s highest run-getter hit 73 runs in the last game against Gujarat. He has the ability to take the team to a big total. He could do well in the next game.

Shivam Dube: The left-hander has hit 226 runs in six games with two fifties so far. He can hit boundaries and has a strike rate of 168.65.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary

Pitch Report: The last game between Bangalore and Lucknow at this venue saw pacers getting some help from the surface with the new ball.
