Indian T20 League 2022: Lucknow vs Mumbai – Top 10 Memes
KL Rahul scored second consecutive hundred against Mumbai
Lucknow and Mumbai played each other for the second time in the Indian T20 League 2022 . Winning the toss, the Men In Blue elected to bowl first. The Men In Mint Green’s innings revolved around the brilliance of their skipper KL Rahul, who scored an unbeaten 103.
Notably, in his last game of the season against the same opposition, he scored 103 not out as well. This is the second time when a player has hit two hundreds against the same opposition in the same season. In 2016, Virat Kohli scored two hundreds against now-defunct Gujarat. Meanwhile, the team amassed a respectable 168/6, thanks to their skipper’s innings.
On the other hand, other batters couldn’t even cross the 30-run mark as the second-highest scorer for the team was Manish Pandey (22). For the five-time winners, Daniel Sams and Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket each while Riley Meredith and Kieron Pollard took two each. In reply, Mumbai openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma batted in a contrasting fashion. Sharma returned to some form with 31 off 19 balls in the powerplay.
On the other hand, Kishan labored his way through to eight off 19 balls before his struggle was ended by Ravi Bishnoi. In form, Dewald Brewis (3) couldn’t carry his form as he became the victim of Mohsin Khan, who was playing the game after sitting out for the last few games. Sharma (39), who was going well was caught by K. Gowtham off Krunal Pandya. Two overs later, another in-form player Suryakumar Yadav got out to part-time bowler Ayush Badoni.
The team was tottering at 67/4, needing another 102 runs in 50 balls. The likes of Tilak Varma (38) and Pollard stitched a partnership of 57 runs but the match was almost over by then. Varma got out to Jason Holder with team needing 45 off 13 balls. With 44 needed off the last two overs, Dushmantha Chameera conceded only five runs to dash the hopes of the opposition. Krunal Pandya finished the job in the next over with two wickets and a run-out to win the game for his team by 36 runs.
