Published on

Lucknow and Chennai will face each other at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 31. Both teams are coming off a defeat in their first game against Gujarat and Kolkata respectively. The defending champions were outplayed in all departments of the game, while the new entrant played well in patches. The teams will be looking to register their first win in the tournament. The Men In Yellow could only muster 134/5. In reply, Kolkata easily chased down the target with ease in 18.3 overs. On the other hand, Lucknow couldn’t defend the target of 159 as Gujarat chased down the target with two balls left.

Team News

Lucknow: The team won’t be making any changes in such an early stage of the tournament, even after losing their first game to Gujarat.

Key Players:

KL Rahul – The Lucknow skipper has been prolific in the last couple of years with more than 500 runs in each season. He got out for a golden duck against Gujarat and will be keen to bounce back in the tournament.

Dushmantha Chameera – The pacer from Sri Lanka bowled his heart out in the powerplay against Gujarat. Since mid-2021, he has been a force to reckon with in the shortest format. Expect him to create tough times for Chennai batters

Probable XI: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Dushmanta Chameera, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi

Chennai: Moeen Ali is available for selection and Chennai will most probably get him back in the team.

Key Players:

Moeen Ali – The all-rounder from England was in fine form last season which prompted the franchise to retain him. He will be eager to do well after missing the first game due to visa and quarantine issues.

MS Dhoni – In the first game against Kolkata, the former skipper looked like the vintage Dhoni. With no pressure of captaincy, he might unleash himself once again.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande

Pitch Report: The pitch during the Mumbai vs Delhi game was evenly balanced, with enough help for batters and bowlers. However, the game was a day match. In evening, things could get a little trickier for the batters as the ball might move a bit more.
