Indian management sends warning to coaching staff after WTC final nightmare – Reports
Indian Cricket Board have might take a hard call if India doesn’t win the ODI World Cup 2023.
It seems that the Indian Cricket Board’s patience is wearing thin. With India losing their second consecutive WTC Final, the board has reportedly sent a warning to the Indian coaching staff. The staff consists of head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambray. They have been given time till the ODI World Cup later this year.
If things go awry for the Men In Blue, the four guys might lose their job. A board official said that the team did well at home in the longest format of the game. He added that the team has struggled overseas including the South Africa tour and Bangladesh tour. The official further added the board doesn’t want to take a knee-jerk decision but the internal discussion will take place.
“It’s not that simple. We can’t say they have not been up to the mark. We have won in India. Reaching the final of the World Test Championship is not a joke.
But the performance overseas has not been satisfactory. At the same time, we have to consider the fact that we have a World Cup in four months’ time and we cannot have a knee-jerk reaction. But there will be internal discussions for sure,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
