Indian Cricket Board release list of India’s best batters, bowlers across formats in 2022

Team India tasted too many defeats than victories in 2022 and there were not many players who outclassed with the bat and the ball across all formats. On December 31, Saturday, the Indian cricket board declared the top performers of the team for all three formats for both batting and bowling.

Much to the surprise of the Indian fans, neither Virat Kohli nor Rohit Sharma was a part of the top performers’ list, despite the former scoring 2 centuries in two different formats this year. Although one could agree that the Indian skipper was not at the best of his forms in the year, Kohli, on the other hand, gave his best and looked great in the shortest format of the game.

To add more, as far as the Test format is concerned, the board declared Rishabh Pant as the best batter and Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler for the Indian team in 2022. While Pant gathered 680 runs in the format, Bumrah managed to rack up 22 wickets in the longest format, making him one of the best bowlers of the year.

Shreyas Iyer chosen as best ODI batter despite Virat Kohli’s late bloom

As far as the ODIs are concerned, Shreyas Iyer was chosen as the best batter with 724 runs to his name at an average of 55.69 with 1 century and 6 fifties to his name. Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, managed to pile up 24 wickets to his name at an economy of 4.62 with the best spell of 3/29.

And in T20Is, undoubtedly, Suryakumar Yadav was chosen as the best batter in the format with 1164 runs to his name at an average of 46.56 and with 9 fifties under his belt in addition to 2 centuries. It was the veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was adjourned the best bowler of the format with 37 wickets at an economy of just under 7 and the best spell of 5/4.

Fans, on the other hand, were upset with the face that India’s prime batters Rohit and Kohli were left out of the top performers list, although one has to agree that the Indian captain made no impact with the bat right throughout the year.
