After having won the first two matches and the series as well, India and Sri Lanka Women’s teams clashed in the final ODI on July 7th.

Let’s look at the Match Report for the same.

India Women vs Sri Lanka Women 3rd ODI:

After winning the toss, the Sri Lanka women’s team decided to bowl first. India having already won the series came into this match with loads of confidence. The opener Shafali Verma hit a gritty 49 off of 50 balls but unfortunately could not reach her half-century. The other opener Smriti Mandhana got out cheaply for 6 off of 20. The next batter Yastika Bhatia made 30 off of 38 but Harleen Deol and Deepti Sharma could not do much.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a captain’s knock of 75 off of 88 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. The lower order batter Pooja Vastrakar also hit 56* off of 65 to take the Indian total to 255/9.

Inoka Rnaweera from the Sri Lanka team came up with a sensational bowling figure of 10-22-2 to put pressure on the Indian side. Her economy of 2.2 was instrumental in keeping India at 255.

Coming on to chase, Sri Lanka the opener Vishmi Gunaratne was taken out by Meghna Singh at just three. Captain Chamari Atapattu played a captain’s knock with 44 off of 41. Nilakshi de Silva played a good knock of 48* off of 59 but it was sufficient for the Sri Lanka team at the end and they lost by 39 runs.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad, with a bowing figure of 10-36-3, was the best bowler from the Indian side. Meghna Singh and Pooja Vastrakar also took two wickets each to restrict the Sri Lanka side to 2016/10.

Harmanpreet Kaur, captaining for the first time after the retirement of Mithali Raj, won the player of the match as well as the player of the series award for her impressive performance throughout the series.
