India vs Ireland 2nd T20I: Preview, Probable XIs, Pitch Report, Match Details, and Updates

Published on

With a new approach to international cricket, the Indian white-ball team is on a tour to Ireland while the red-ball team is practicing to face the England Cricket Team for the fifth Test. The first match of the India-Ireland T20I series was on the verge of getting washed out but with millions of fans praying for a game, the match, despite being short, still took place.

The Indian side led, by the newly appointed T20I captain Hardik Pandya, won the toss and elected to field first. Fans were waiting to see the speedster, Umran Malik, in action but a shortened game allowed him to bowl only one over. India won the first T20I against the Ireland side who gave a good fightback, with Harry Tector coming up with a sensational 64 off of 33. Deepak Hooda (47 off 29), Ishan Kishan (26 off of 11) and Hardik Pandya (24 off 12) took the visiting side to a comfortable win at the end.

Fans would be hoping for a complete game in the second T20I but the threat of rain looms large. Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t bat in the first T20I due to a calf niggle. The India- Ireland second T20I could see the inclusion of Sanju Samson in place of Gaikwad. Eyes would also be set on Harry Tector, who came up with the highest score among both sides in the last game. The Indian side is expected to go with the same starting XI, barring one change.

Team News:

Ireland: The hosts would need to perform better in order to challenge the quality Indian side. The top order, in particular, failed to put runs on the board and the second T20I is a good chance to make a comeback. Tector would be looking to continue his great form heading into the next game.

Ireland Probable XI: Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Andy McBrine, Craig Young, Joshua Little, Conor Olphert

India: The Indian side did not face many challenges apart from Tector, who dominated the Indian bowlers. The Indian side would be looking to play a full match and give a good chance to the newcomers, Malik, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson and Avesh Khan. Samson could play in place of Gaikward if his pain persists.

India Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad/Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umran Malik

Pitch Report:

The Malahide Cricket Club ground is very small, but the pitch offered enough assistance to fast bowlers in the first T20I. Pacers from both sides were able to swing the ball, which is something we don’t see often on Indian pitches.
