‘India ko kab karoge yaar’ – Fans react as major streaming platform set to broadcast world tournaments in Australia
Australian cricket team have already collaborated with Amazon before-hand for two seasons of the ‘The Test’.
Australia’s ODI World Cup rights to broadcast have been taken over by Amazon Prime Video. Two weeks after Pat Cummins’ squad won the World Cup in Ahmedabad the country is set to have new broadcasters. The apex cricket council sealed the contract with the streaming behemoth earlier this week.
Under the terms of this arrangement, Australians will only be able to watch their nation defend the World Cup on digital platforms. This would also eliminate traditional linear networks when it takes place in Southern Africa just after four years, in 2027.
The transaction was verified by sources close to the arrangement and provided to Cricbuzz. Amazon now has the exclusive right to broadcast not just the Men’s World Cup but also the Women’s World Cup, the Twenty20 World Cups, the Champions Trophy, the Under-19 World Cup (which starts in South Africa next month), and the one and only World Test Championship finale.
The head of Amazon Prime for Australia and New Zealand, Hushidar Kharas spoke about the deal. He stated that the collaboration is a significant feature of the online streaming service and is going to give Australian cricket fans unparalleled access.
Hushidar Kharas said, “As a cricket fan, I couldn’t wait to see what happened when the unstoppable force of ‘BazBall’ batting came up against the best test bowling lineup in the world. The 2023 Ashes were the most closely contested and memorable of recent times, and I am delighted to be able to relive them along with our customers in Australia and around the world.”
“Cricket World Cup is one of the most viewed sporting events in the world” : Hushidar Kharas
The Amazon Prime Video head of the region is also intrigued by the viewership throughout the Cricket World Cup.
The Head added, “The Cricket World Cup is one of the most viewed sporting events in the world; the recently concluded edition was watched by hundreds of millions of people! Over the next four years, Prime members in Australia will be able to watch their favourite cricket teams and players compete for the game’s biggest prize, on demand, on the device of their choice—exclusively on Prime Video.”

Good but they show cricket telecast like a documentary. Need to advertise a lot and up the razzmatazz to attract young audiences. They have the best servers for a glitch free experience and yet people prefer DisneyH>JioCinema>Sony>Fancode?
