Rajasthan leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal‘s hilarious ambition of opening the batting for the team hasn’t stopped. Ahead of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022, Chahal hilariously expressed his desire to open the innings alongside Jos Buttler. The spinner is one of the wittiest player in the team and keeps the fans engaged with his humour.  Once again, the batter has left his fans in splits while expressing his wish to open the batting for Rajasthan. Chahal said he will break Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs in a single season of the Indian T20 League.  For the unversed, Kohli scored 973 runs for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2016, including four hundred. This record is still intact, in fact no one has come closer to the record. The 31-year-old added that he would break the record in just 10 games as he will score 10 hundreds in as many games.

“If I had a chance to open – Then I would have broken every record, not just Jos Buttler. I think even Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record [973 runs] is left for me only. I’m going to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches only because in every match I have to score a hundred, no? (laughs),” Chahal told while speaking to ESPNcricinfo on Polite Enquiries.

This season, Buttler looked like breaking the record after a blazing start to the tournament where he scored three hundreds. However, low returns in the last few games have made the task relatively difficult for Buttler. Currently, the right-hander has got 627 runs in 13 games.

On the other hand, Chahal is the leading wicket-taker of the season with 24 wickets in 13 games. Both players had a tough game against Lucknow on May 16. The opening batter could only score two runs before being dismissed by Avesh Khan. On the other hand, Chahal could pick only one wicket and conceded 42 runs in four overs. However, Rajasthan cruised to a comfortable win over Lucknow and moved to second spot in the points table.
