Asia Cup 2023
‘Idhar toh baarish jeet gayi’ – Fans react to Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan getting called off due to rain
Only one innings was possible during Saturday’s game between India and Pakistan.
India chose to bat first, and Shaheen Afridi immediately started looking for the inswinger during his first few overs. With that strategy, he was unable to get the breakthrough, but during a rain delay, he slightly reduced his length and quickly captured Rohit Sharma as well as Virat Kohli. Shreyas Iyer was eliminated by Haris Rauf with a short ball, and a struggling Gill was nipped out with a fuller ball.
When Pakistan was 66/4, India appeared to be completely outmatched. Ishan Kishan along with Hardik Pandya teamed up at that point, displaying excellent calm as they built a vital 138-runs partnership over the fifth wicket. The century stand was finally broken by Haris Rauf. After Kishan’s collapse, Hardik increased the stakes, and just as another partnership was about to take shape, Afridi eliminated both Hardik and Jadeja within the same over.
India dropped to 266/10 from 239/5. Although Naseem bowled superbly and was unfortunate not to take any wickets during his opening stint, he recovered admirably to end with a 3-fer. The match is still there for the taking for the both of them and India would want to test the Pakistan batters under the lights as soon as possible.
Rain plays spoilsport ahead of second innings
After the first innings, the game had to be abandoned owing to the relentless rains. At the conclusion of the game, each side will have a point added to their total. However, with three out of a maximum four points, Pakistan has qualified for the Super Fours. Fans only got to see the first inning, but it was jam-packed with activity before the rain came.
Shaheen Shah Afridi spoke to the reporters after the first innings. He discussed the game plan he wanted to execute. He said, “That was our plan with the new ball. I think both (Virat and Rohit) were crucial wickets, every batter is the same for me. But I think I liked Rohit’s wicket better. The plans by our fast bowlers worked. Naseem is bowling at 150 kph, really happy with that, he’s really fast.

The rivalry between Pakistan and India has shifted. Pakistan's cricket team is now strong, while India faces challenges like poverty and hunger. It's a positive step that Pakistan No one playing against India. PCB could consider aiding India with a donation.
