While the semi-finalists from Group A have already been decided, Group B still has all to play for in the ICC Academy Summer Cup. The 15th match was an opportunity for Mid-East Metals to get their first win of the tournament and remain in contention for the Semi Final spot, and they grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Let’s look at the match report of the match between MEM and TVS.

Match 15: Mid-East Metals vs The Vision Shipping

In what is becoming a rare decision these days, Mid-East Metals won the toss and elected to bat first. With the intention of setting a big target, the MEM openers come on the field with confidence. However, they were dealt a huge blow as Faizan Awan was dismissed at just four runs. The other opener Mannal Siddiqui, however, continued his aggressive approach and made a quickfire 40 off of 20 deliveries.

The MEM team, on the back of lower order batters Awais Noor (27), Ateeq Ur Rehman (43) and Irfan Ashraf (30), made 194/7 in 20 overs. Captain Saqib Mahmood and Ikram Janjua were the picks of the bowlers from the TVS side, both taking two wickets each.

Coming on to chase the huge target, TVS got off to a poor start as they lost their first wicket in the first over itself. None of the batters could halt the fall of wickets from them on as batters continued to come and go every 10 odd runs.

Nasir Faraz held the innings from one end and produced an industrious 69 off of 47 deliveries, but he did not get support from the other end. A small cameo from Imran Javed (26) halted their eventual loss for a while but it did not last for much longer.

In the end, MEM clinched their first win of the tournament by defeating TVS by 31 runs. They now have two points in three matches and move to third on the table. They still have a match to play and their chance of qualifying for the semi-final is still alive for the ICC Academy Summer Cup.
