Match 14th of the ICC Academy Summer Cup 2022 saw Future Mattress and Dubai Dare Devils clash in Group A. Future Mattress were able to dominate the DDD team and put a huge gap between them and the others.
Let’s look at how the game panned out.
Match 14: Future Mattress vs Dubai Dare Devils
In a decision that is getting increasingly rare, Future Mattress decided to bat first after winning the toss. The two opening batters started in a positive manner and went past the 20 runs individual barrier for a 44 runs-first wicket partnership. After the departure of Muhammad Waseem (26), it was Aryan Lakra who held the fort and came up with 38 off 31. Captain Rohan Mustafa (29), Alishan Sharafu (20), Amjad Gul (32) and Wasi Shah (16) brought in a batting unity that has never been seen in the tournament before. All the batters were able to get into the double-digit score and help the team with their stay at the crease.
It was Muhammad Usman who finished the batting inning with a flurry as he hit 42 runs in just 16 deliveries. On the back of a significant contribution from every batter, FM were able to produce the highest score of this tournament 212 in 20 overs. Azharuddin Qureshi took three wickets from the DDD side but he was hit for a massive 54 runs in his three-over spell.
Coming onto chase what was a humongous target, the Dubai Dare Devils side got off to a decent start with a 57-run partnership from their first wicket. Abhay Jotin was again the top performer of the team as he hit 63 off 36 deliveries to put DDD on the right track. Taimoor Ali with 45 and Abdul Aziz Mohd Rashid with 41 tried their best but 212 proved to be a target too far-fetched for the team and they lost by 26 runs in the end.
With this win, FM have now amassed six points in four matches and remain at second while DDD are stuck at third with just two points in their three matches in the ICC Academy Summer Cup.
