The ICC Academy Summer Cup has brought forth some great matches to the foray. The 11th match saw The Vision Shipping clash with Seven Districts from Group B.
Let’s see how match 11 of the ICC Summer Cup panned out.
Match 11: The Vision Shipping vs Seven Districts
Having won the toss, The Vision Shipping elected to bowl first and asked Seven Districts to put runs on the board. Coming on to bat first, the SVD got off to a decent start as both openers got going well. None of them however could convert their start to a bigger inning and both departed cheaply.
The story remained the same for most of SVD’s batters as they all got a decent start but could not take the game by the scruff of the neck. Shahzad Ali with a knock of 23 off of 26 balls was SVD’s top scorer. In the end, SVD could only manage 136/8 on the board.
Captain Saquib Mahmood and Mohammad Nadeem took three wickets each and ran through SVD’s batting order. Ikram Januja with a two-wicket spell was also a big support to TVS’s bowlers.
Coming onto chase what seemed like a small total, the TVS team stumbled at the start itself. They lost two consecutive wickets on just five runs, leaving the team in limbo. It was then, that Nasir Faraz came in and played an innings for the ages as he hit an unbeaten 81 in just 48 deliveries to take his team across the finish line. His innings featured 11 boundaries and two massive sixes.
He wasn’t however supported by any of the other TVS batters as wickets continued to fall from the other side. Only three batters were able to get into the double digits including Faraz’s 81.
TVS however reached the target in 16.3 overs and won the match by two wickets. Faraz was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 81 runs knock. With this win, TVS move to the second position in the ICC Academy Summer Cup league table meanwhile SVD still sit at the top with four points in two matches.
