Mumbai defeated Delhi in their third Women’s T20 League 2023 match. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team is the only one that has yet to lose a game in the tournament. They also ended Delhi’s streak of scoring 200 runs in an innings with this victory.

The Mumbai captain was overjoyed after her team defeated Delhi by eight wickets to claim their third consecutive victory in the Women’s T20 League 2023. Harmanpreet praised her bowlers Saika Ishaque, Isabelle Wong, and Hayley Matthews for their outstanding three-wicket hauls in limiting Delhi Capitals to 105 in 18 overs.

Mumbai cruised to their third straight win in 15 overs, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur (11 not out) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (23 not out). Chasing 106, Yastika Bhatia (41) and Hayley Matthews (32) scored 47 runs in the powerplay and shared 65 runs for the first wicket to help their team secure a big win. It was Delhi’s first loss of the inaugural season.

“I think today our bowlers did really well and they bowled according to their plans. They are making my job easier, they are willing to bowl and ready to give us those breakthroughs,” Harmanpreet Kaur said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“When you have so many bowling options, my job is easy. Credit goes to our bowlers for the way they are bowling on their fields. After the last game, we sat and discussed. In the last game, we bowled a few bad balls but today we backed our plans and our skills. Yastika and Hayley gave us a good start and that is what we were looking at.

“The wicket was a little slow and they (openers) played very sensibly. Now, the tournament is going to start because pitches will be on the slower side and we have to keep this going,” Harmanpreet Kaur added.

The table toppers will play their next game against Alyssa Haley’s UP Warriorz on the 12th of March at the Brabourne Stadium. They would look to continue their winning momentum in the remainder of the tournament.
