‘I think Shane Warne was miles ahead of me’- Muttiah Muralitharan
A spinner’s job while bowling is a laborious one in all formats. He has to come in and constantly bowl the right line, length and with good pace and drift so that the batsman is deceived and a wicket can be taken. Every now and then a debate is always springing up as to who is the greatest spinner of all time between Australian wrist spinner Shane Wane and Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
While the debate rages on, it will not be right to compare these two greats as one is an off spinner, and one is a leg spinner. Both have had different challenges to face throughout the course of their long careers.
Warne’s sudden death took the entire cricketing fraternity in surprise. Everyone thinks of Shane Warne’s death as a horrible dream, and Muralitharan, his archrival, who bowled in a similar kind of unorthodox fashion, still gets sad and feels heavy in the face and eyes while reminiscing about Shane Warne.
The former Sri Lankan international while talking about Warne said that Shane Warne as a bowler was miles ahead of him and that he has not got used to the absence of Warne from the world of cricket.
“I think he was better than me, when I was playing, I looked up to him and learnt things from him. We all miss him,” Muralidaran was quoted as saying by India Today.
