‘I am not concerned, T20 game can be tough’: Stephen Fleming on Ravindra Jadeja’s off-form
The Head Coach of the Chennai team, Stephen Fleming speaks up about the lack of form Ravindra Jadeja is suffering from.
The defending champions Chennai have bowed out of the Indian T20 League 2022 after losing against Bangalore in their last match. The Men in Yellow have looked off-color throughout the season. Some of their key players have not been able to contribute according to expectations and as a result, the team has had a dismal run in the tournament.
One such player has been their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. After a brilliant show in the last edition of ITL, the fans and the team management were hoping for another outstanding season from him. But so far he has just been a shadow of himself. The Head Coach of the Chennai team, Stephen Fleming has spoken up about Jadeja’s below-average performance in the season.
During the post-match conversation after the Bangalore match, Fleming said that he is not concerned with the all-rounder’s form. He also stated that T20 can be a cruel format as there is very little margin for error. Fleming told that numbers 5 and 6 is a difficult position to bat in T20 cricket and he is ready to provide the southpaw with his best position helping him regain his form.
“I am not concerned, T20 game can be tough. When you are batting at No.5 or No.6, you don’t get a lot of time to get the tempo or rhythm right. We will look at it now and work out what the best order will be going forward, but no I am not concerned about his form,â€- Fleming said.
Notably, Jadeja has just scored 116 runs in the tournament from 10 matches. He averages just 19.33 and has been battling with a strike rate of 118.37. Even he has seemed to have lost his potency with the ball in hand. He has just picked up 5 wickets in the tournament so far from 10 matches. His fans and the team management will hope that he quickly returns to form and contributes significantly to the team’s performance.
