‘How’s the Jos’ -Twitter reacts as Jos Buttler wreaks havoc on Mumbai with a 66-ball 100
Rajasthan’s opening batter Jos Buttler once again displayed his prowess against his former Indian T20 League team. Since joining the Rajasthan team in 2018, Buttler has played some wonderful innings against Mumbai. In the ongoing game against the five-time winners, the right-hander unleashed his power-hitting prowess. This started with a 26-run over against Basil Thampi in the fourth over of the innings.
The Englishman started Thampi’s over with the dot ball. However, the 2019 World Cup winner didn’t spare the uncapped Indian bowler. The carnage started with an ariel shot over mid-on for four. He then hit back-to-back sixes over long-on and deep midwicket respectively.
The over ended with a four over the bowler’s head and a six over wide long-on respectively. This was the beginning of one of his greatest innings in the cash-rich league. Notably, this is his second hundred of the ITL. His maiden 100 came against Hyderabad during the Indian leg of the 2021 season. The Taunton-born player hit 11 fours and five sixes in his 68-ball innings.
The 31-year-old also stitched a partnership of 82 runs alongside his skipper Sanju Samson (30) for the third wicket. This came at a time when the team was struggling at 48/2, having lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) and Devdutt Padikkal (7). The duo got out to Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills respectively. The innings from Buttler helped the team put up a total of 193/8.
Apart from him, Shimron Hetmyer played an innings of 35 off 14 balls including three sixes and as many fours. At one stage, they were looking to get past the 200-run mark for the second consecutive time but were restricted by late wickets from Bumrah and Mills.
