Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were synonymous with the Bangalore team since the latter was signed during the 2011 player auction. They have played some match-winning knocks and were part of the many highs and lows of the team. In November 2021, De Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. It is to be noted that he had already retired from international cricket in 2018.

The ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 is the first time both players are not playing together since 2010. At that time, the former South Africa skipper was playing for Delhi. Meanwhile, in a conversation with content creator Danish Sait, Kohli said that he misses the South African, and is still in touch with him. The former Bangalore skipper added that the legend was recently in the United States of America watching golf.

“I miss him a lot, I speak to him quite regularly and he keeps messaging me,” said Kohli. “He was in the US recently watching golf, Augusta Masters is what I heard it was called so he told me he was there experiencing with his friend and family”.

Further in the conversation, the 33-year-old suggested that the Pretoria-born player might be back with the team next year.

“So we stay in touch and he is very keenly watching RCB, hopefully [we see him] here next year in some capacity”.

Talking about AB de Villiers, he has played 168 games for the three-time finalists and has amassed 4491 runs. Notably, in March this year, a few rumours suggested that De Villiers will return to the team as a mentor. At that time, the team hadn’t announced their captain for the 2022 edition. However, this proved to be false.

Coming to the ongoing 15th season, the Bangalore-based franchise have bounced back with two wins against Chennai and Hyderabad. They have now won seven out of their 12 games, and are looking set to qualify for the playoffs. Bangalore fans would be hoping that their team goes on to win their maiden title this time around.
