‘Hope she feels its warmth’- Adam Gilchrist’s message to late Andrew Symonds’ daughter

Former Australian wicketkeeper batter Adam Gilchrist has sent a heartwarming message for the late Andrew Symonds’ daughter. The child turned seven years old on May 18, 2022. For the unversed, Andrew Symonds passed away after the tragic accident on the night of May 14. The medics tried to revive him but were unsuccessful as the former player died due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Gilchrist took to his official Twitter handle and wished his daughter on her seventh birth anniversary. In the tweet, the former wicketkeeper batter said it is important for the child to feel warmth, love, and trust.

“Sent a massive hug that I once received from a very good mate, that I had stored away, to his daughter for her birthday today. More important she feels it’s warmth, love and trust than me. Happy Birthday sweet girl,” Gilchrist wrote on Twitter.

After Symonds’s death, tributes flew from all the around the globe and they expressed their gratitude to the deceased. Talking about his career, he made his international debut for Australia in 1998 and played his last game in 2009. In 2003, he shot to fame after scoring a match-winning hundred against Pakistan, facing the likes of Waqar Younis, Wasim Khan, Abdul Razaaq, etc in the 50-over World Cup.

In the same tournament, he scored a match-winning fifty against Sri Lanka in the semi-final to take the team to the final. The team went onto beat India in the final. For the unversed, he was born in England and did turned the offer to play for the country of birth.

Notably, he has played for English counties such as Lancashire, Kent, Surrey, and Gloucestershire. He also played in the Indian T20 League from now defunct Hyderabad from 2008 to 2010 and then moved to Mumbai in 2011. Next year, ahead of the 2012 Indian T20 League, he announced his retirement from the game and became a commentator.
