IPL 2024
‘He will definitely comeback’- Twitter disappointed as Virat Kohli bags second consecutive golden duck
In the last game against Lucknow, Virat Kohli got out on a golden duck as well
Bangalore and Hyderabad are locking horns in the 36th game of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. After winning the toss, the Orange Army chose to bowl first. They had a good start after Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded only five runs in the first over. What followed in the next over was absolute insanity as South Africa’s left-arm pacer Marco Jansen was right on the money.
The Proteas pacer cleaned up Bangalore’s skipper Faf du Plessis (5) with a straight delivery on the second ball of the over. After his dismissal, the former skipper of the franchise Virat Kohli walked in to bat. It is to be noted that the batter had bagged a golden duck in his previous game against Lucknow. However, little did Kohli know that he would register another golden duck this time around as well. The right-hander poked a delivery going outside the off-stump with hard hands.
The ball flew to the second slip where Aiden Markram was placed by skipper Kane Williamson. In the last game against Lucknow, the 33-year-old was trying to play the same way he did in the ongoing game. However, in that game, he was caught at backward point by Deepak Hooda off Dushmantha Chameera. The former India and Bangalore skipper is having a tough time with the bat after starting the season with an unbeaten 41 against Punjab in the first game.
Since then, he has managed to amass only 119 runs, that includes a 48 against Mumbai. As of now, this is his worst season with the bat since the opening season of the Indian T20 League in 2008. In that year, The Delhi-born could only score 165 runs in 13 games, where he averaged 15 and struck at 105.09. This year, he averages 17, and is striking at 122.68.
Talking about the game, the three-time finalists were bundled for 68. None of their batters were able to score more than 15. Marco Jansen and T Natrajan took three wickets each.
