‘He must be very relieved’ – Harbhajan Singh on Virat Kohli getting a Test Century after three years
Virat Kohli hit his 28th Test century (after more than three years) and 75th in international cricket.
Virat Kohli hit his 28th Test century (after more than three years) and 75th in international cricket. The former India captain delivered when the team needed him the most, hitting a crucial six to keep India in the game against Australia.
Kohli’s century came off 241 balls, ending his Test century drought of three years, three months, and 17 days. He did, however, miss out on a Test double hundred as he was dismissed for 186. Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh said Kohli would be “relieved” with his century in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test.
Virat Kohli being Virat Kohli: Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh told India Today that Kohli needed this kind of knock to get back into the swing of things. The former cricketer went on to say that he wants Kohli to build on this century and be the team’s “vintage Virat Kohli” in the future.
“He (Kohli) must be very relieved with his hundred and so are all his fans. I wanted him to score runs and all the other batters as well. I wanted to see if they could play on better wickets where they also have their chance to score those runs and I’m so glad they actually got the wicket where they had the chance to score runs,” Harbhajan told India Today.
“Virat Kohli being Virat Kohli. He needed this kind of a knock to get back into the rhythm and the kind of rhythm India would need him to be going forward. I hope from here onwards we see the upward for Virat Kohli and he will continue to be the vintage Virat Kohli for all of us and score many many runs for team India.”
Kohli and Axar Patel added 162 runs for the sixth wicket to take India to 571 in response to Australia’s 480. On Day 4, the visitors added three runs before stumps. Both teams will be hungry for a victory here.
