‘Haan ye karlo pahle’- Twitter lambasts Rohit Sharma for missing 1st ODI against Australia after dancing video from brother-in-law’s marriage goes viral
Rohit Sharma will be missing the first ODI against Australia.
Indian cricket team’s captain Rohit Sharma pulled out of the first ODI against Australia due to family commitments. But a video clip of him dancing at his brother-in-law’s wedding went viral on social media. Rohit was seen grooving to the Bollywood song ‘Lal Ghagra’ with his wife Ritika Sajdeh on stage. The video was widely shared and appreciated by fans, who loved seeing the skipper enjoying himself off the field.
Rohit is known for his love for dance and has previously been seen shaking a leg on multiple occasions. This time, his dance moves garnered attention, given his absence from the first ODI against Australia. Fans were quick to point out that Rohit should have played in the match, given that he had the energy to dance at the wedding.
Hardik Pandya to be stand-in captain for 1st ODI
Hardik Pandya took on the responsibility of leading the side in Rohit’s absence, and the vice-captain has proven himself as an astute captain in the T20 format. He has also led the ODI team in the past when Rohit was not available. The Indian team will be hoping for Pandya to lead from the front and secure a win in the first match of the series.
Apart from Rohit’s absence, the Indian team has also been hit by the injury to Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of the ODI series after sustaining a back injury. The pace department is also being tested in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who is facing a lengthy time on the sidelines due to injury. In his absence, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, and captain Hardik Pandya will look to cement their places in the team as the ODI World Cup in India approaches.
While Rohit Sharma’s absence from the first ODI against Australia was disappointing for fans, his dance moves at the wedding brought a smile to their faces. The Indian team will be looking to put in a strong performance in his absence, and the responsibility of leading the side will fall on Hardik Pandya’s shoulders. The series promises to be an exciting one, with both teams looking to build momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup.
Many fans on Twitter however did not like the Indian captain missing a significant match for a wedding ceremony.

His footwork here too was assured and graceful. Leg side was dominant though. Hands were close to the body, which is also good. Notice his head, it's still. Masterclass in sangeeth dancing.

It's nothing but shame!!
It's alright to skip match for child (2018 bgt) or parents or wife…
But as captain one can't skip national duty for dome in law's birthday
