In the 46th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Riding on amazing half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians chased down 200+ in the second consecutive match.

Earlier, after winning the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. Batting first, the hosts got a shaky start as opener Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for 9 runs off 7 balls by Arshad Khan. After his departure, Shikhar Dhawan and Matthew Short added 49 runs for the second wicket. Dhawan, in his innings, scored 30 runs off 20 balls Short, on the other hand, scored 27 runs off 26 balls. Both were dismissed by ace spinner Piyush Chawla.

After their departure, PBKS batter Jitesh Sharma along with Liam Livingston added 119 runs off 53 balls for the fourth wicket. Jitesh in his innings scored 49 runs off 27 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes. Meanwhile, Livingstone scored 82 runs off 42 balls with the help of seven boundaries and four sixes. Piyush Chawla proved to be the best bowler for the five-time champions as he clinched two wickets. Apart from him, Arshad Khan clinched a wicket.

Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav led Mumbai to a comfortable victory

Chasing 215, MI got a terrible start as skipper Rohit Sharma missed out on a batting-friendly wicket. He was dismissed for a three-ball duck by Rishi Dhawan. After his departure, Cameron Green along with Ishan Kishan added 54 runs for the second wicket. Green scored 23 runs off 18 balls with the help of four boundaries. He was dismissed by impact player Nathan Ellis.

After getting in trouble, Suryakumar Yadav and Kishan added 116 runs for the third wicket. Kishan scored a magnificent half-century as he hammered 75 runs off 41 balls with the help of four sixes and seven boundaries. On the other hand, Suryakumar scored 66 runs off 31 balls with the help of eight boundaries and two sixes. Ellis proved to be the best bowler for PBKS as he clinched two wickets.
