‘Gandhi didn’t die for this’ – Twitter reminds Yuvraj Singh of the British oppression as he paid homage to Queen Elizabeth II on her death.
Queen Elizabeth II was queen regnant of 32 different sovereign states in the course of her reign
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, passed away at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years. She died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Scottish estate, where she had spent much of the summer. The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.
The entire world is mourning the death of the queen. Many famous personalities from India also paid homage to her majesty. Cricketer Yuvraj Singh also took to Twitter to pay tribute to the deceased.
The former Indian cricketer wrote on Twitter, “The passing away of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II marks the end of an era. Her life was a testimony of inner strength, courage and devotion towards her people. My deepest condolences to the royal family and her countless well-wishers in this hour of grief.”
Queen Elizabeth II, was queen regnant of 32 different sovereign states in the course of her reign and served as monarch of 15 of them at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days is the longest of any British monarch and the longest recorded of any female head of state.
Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York. Her father acceded to the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the heir presumptive. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
The Queen has left behind four children Charles III; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
However, Yuvraj’s tweet didn’t go down well with his fans who reminded him of the British atrocities on the Indians when it was under their rule. Yuvraj is married to a British actress and model, Hazel Keech. Keech has also acted in some Bollywood movies and also appeared on the TV show ‘Big Boss’.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Yuvraj’s condolences for the British Royal Family:
Greatness? Occasionally inspect the warehouses containing 400,000 gold bars that were amassed through colonial-era oppression and exploitation and could have been used to improve the lives of the average English citizen. respect?
