Back in February, UFC superstar William Knight was preparing to throw hands with Polish karateka Marcin Prachnio at UFC Vegas 69. He was expecting to put his body through several training routines at Thornton Martial Arts and Fitness in East Hartford, Connecticut, to help prepare for his Light Heavyweight fight. Instead, “The Knightmare” was transporting a new coffin.

Nobody realised how much suffering Knight was in during the fight, both mentally and physically. Knight, who was a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter” season 69, took to social media to express his sorrow and grief, stating that he had lost his sister, two aunts, two uncles, and two cousins in a car accident on their way back from the fight. Also In a recent interview, Knight revealed his pain as he revealed how he lost seven family members before that fight.

“I wasn’t in a mental state to take that fight, man. Like, I just lost my grandfather and just lost my grandmother and just lost another family member. This shit got crazy,” Knight recently told MMAmania.com. “Since June, July — to February — back-to-back-to-back deaths. And it wasn’t even just distant people. These were immediate family members that I’ve seen regularly, every day … I would call them daily”, he further added.

“They say if you’re not mentally there, you’re not going to physically be there. Do you see what I’m saying? Like I stood there, and I’m not proud of it. I’m telling you the facts now, my brain wasn’t even there,” Knight continued. “Like, it didn’t take until I got into the f—king car to understand what just happened. I didn’t know my coach was yelling at me. I didn’t know what was going on. was just standing there just like moving back and forth. And when I’m telling myself to go, like go, I wasn’t f—king going. I don’t know what the fuck happened, I froze up”, Knight further added.

William Knight is set to make a return on CES 73

Knight was dropped by UFC a few days later after the game, but he claims it was a relief since he needed more time to mourn and develop as a fighter. In the meanwhile, “Knightmare” will fight Domingo Barros for the promotion’s vacant Heavyweight title at CES 73 on Friday, May 12, 2023. The ambitious Knight is already planning a move to Light Heavyweight to earn a double crown.

“I understand people are sleeping and underestimating me because of my last couple of fights, but they’re so stupid,” Knight said. “I was coming off of a f—ked up situation where I lost seven family members.” However, it will be interesting to see how Knight will make a comeback after such suffering.
