When Team India faces Afghanistan in the Twenty20 International Series on Thursday in Mohali, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma. After more than a year away from the sport, the captain of the Indian cricket team is returning. He last participated in a Twenty20 international match against England during the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals. Following that, it was widely believed that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would eventually be removed from the T20Is.

But both of them were called up for the final T20I series that India will play before the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 vs Afghanistan.

Prior to the match, veteran Indian bowler Praveen Kumar spoke about a 2012 incident in which he was being abused by supporters. He spoke on the show The Lallantop as he said, “I have never got into a fight with anyone. We three were there me, Rohit Sharma and Manoj iwary. We were at the nets. I think it was in Melbourne. Our own abuse us. They were Indian fans who were abusing Rohit Sharma. His patience ended and he shot back at them and I joined. I am telling you that it is our own who abuse us.”

“Everyone used to do it” : Praveen Kumar on Pakistan bowlers doing ball tampering

Prior to the Ball-tampering sage, it was formerly a popular practice among players. According to Praveen, who also mentioned that Pakistani bowlers were among the more frequent users of this technique to improve their reverse swing.

The former Team India pacer said, “Everyone does a little bit; they (Pakistan bowlers) do it a bit more. That’s what I’ve heard. Now, there are cameras everywhere. Earlier, everyone used to do it. And everyone knows as well. They would scratch it from one side. But you need to know how to use that skill, too. If I scratch the ball and give to someone, one will need to have the skills to reverse-swing it. One has to learn that.”
