Five Players Who Have Played International Cricket For 2 Different Countries

One of the players went on to become the captain of the England team.

Representing the nation is the prime aim of any cricketer and they work hard to raise to that level. While cricket has witnessed many greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Don Bradman, Wasim Akram and others, there have been players who have represented two different countries on the international stages.

To add more, one of England’s best white-ball captains of all time, Eoin Morgan, under whom they won the 50-over World Cup in 2019, was eventually born in Ireland and was a part of the Irish national squad before he made it to the England squad post his migration.

As things stand, let us take a look at five players who played for two different countries on the international stage:

1) Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan, the left-handed batter, eventually made his debut for Ireland in the year 2006 against Scotland. The southpaw was born in Dublin, Ireland and his passion for cricket brought up him to the level of playing international cricket for the Irish team.

However, Morgan made his Test and T20I debut only for England, unlike the 50-over format. Eventually, the left-handed batter grew up in stature, was tasked to lead the side in the 2019 World Cup and eventually returned the favour by winning the title for the first time ever.

2) David Wiese

Dawid Wiese was an active part of the South Africa squad and due to a lack of opportunities and signing of a Kolpak deal with Sussex, the player eventually moved to Nambia in 2021, which gave him the best platform to play freely, the sport that he has loved since his childhood.

Eventually, Wiese represented the Namibian team in the 20-20 World Cup 2021 and went on to carry on with his stint in the 2022 edition as well. It remains to be seen if the talented player would carry on for long, given that the player is 37 years old.

3) Tim David

Tim David, the right-handed batter, was eventually a part of Singapore squad initially and went on to rise in stature post participating in the domestic leagues across the world. Eventually, the batter made a significant impact and his ability to finish games earned him a name.

Eventually, David made it to the Australian squad and was included in the national squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The batter impressed with his performances in the epic tournament and it remained to be seen if he could carry on with the form in the upcoming international games as well.

4) Luke Ronchi

Luke Ronchi, the wicketkeeper, eventually made his debut for Australia in the ODIs and T20Is in 2008 and surprisingly, both of his debuts for the Kangaroos came against West Indies. However, Ronchi ended up playing for New Zealand and received his first-ever Test cap while representing the Kiwis in 2015.

Eventually, Ronchi went on to play for Kiwis and made a name for himself. The right-handed batter went on to represent the Black Caps in 4 Test matches and gathered over 319 runs with 2 fifties to his name in the format.

5) Dirk Nannes

Dirk Nannes made his debut for Netherlands and the right-arm pacer impressed with his spells. To add more, the fiery pacer made his debut for the Dutch in the year 2009 against England in the T20I format. However, soon after, Nannes moved to Australia and went on to receive his only ODI cap in August, of the same year.

While the pacer went on to represent the Kangaroos in the shortest format of the game until 2010. Eventually, Nannes gathered 28 wickets in the format overall including the matches that he played for Netherlands, earlier in his career.
