Five overseas players to watch out for in Indian T20 League 2022

Published on

The 15th season of the Indian T20 League is coming closer and the excitement is increasing among the fans. The season will start on March 26, with the game between Chennai and Kolkata at the Wankhede Stadium. A lot of overseas stars have switched teams this year due to mega auction mathematics. Some were retained and others were bought back by their old teams.

These players have performed immensely over the years. They would like to continue their business as usual this year in the new format of the tournament. This year, 10 teams are participating in the league as opposed to eight, which the fans were used to seeing over the years. In this listicle, we will discuss five overseas players to watch for in the upcoming season

Overseas players to watch out for this season

Moeen Ali

England’s all-rounder will play for Chennai this year as he was retained by the franchise last year. Ali is quite an experienced player in Indian T20 League. He has played 34 games since making his debut for Bangalore in 2018 and has amassed 666 runs. He also has 16 wickets to his name. This year, he is expected to feature in most games for the team.

2. David Warner

In his 13-year ITL career, the left-hander has amassed 5449 in 150 games, averaging 41.59 with four hundreds. Last year, he was sacked from the captaincy and dropped from the playing XI by Hyderabad. This year, he has returned to Delhi after eight years and would have a point to prove.

3. Kagiso Rabada

The South African speedster will feature for Punjab this year. After making his debut for Delhi in 2017, the right-arm pacer has played 50 games, picking 76 wickets at an astonishing strike rate of 21.33. This weekend, he picked a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh and Punjab fans will be hoping for him to maintain that performance in the entire season.

4. Quinton de Kock

The wicketkeeper-batter had two tremendous seasons for Mumbai in 2019 and 2020. In this period, he accumulated more than 500 runs each season. Last year, the left-hander had a season way below his standards as he could only muster 297 runs. This year, he will feature for Lucknow and would like to leave behind last year’s performances.

5. Trent Boult

The left-arm pacer could prove to be one of the smartest buys for Rajasthan this year. In his seven-year career, he has played 62 games and picked 76 wickets. He played a big role in Mumbai’s title defence in 2020 with 25 wickets and would love to repeat the same performance this season.
