India and Pakistan were up against each other in the quarter-final of the 1996 world cup. The Men in blue set a target of 288 runs for Pakistan to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. Pakistan got off to a flying start, thanks to an explosive innings by Aamir Sohail. Pakistan were cruising at one stage at 113/1 after 15 overs as Sohail looked in fine knick.

Seeing himself at the peak of his powers that day, Sohail got into a verbal battle with Venkatesh Prasad as he pointed his finger towards the area where he scored his last boundary and said something to the bowler. On the very next ball, Prasad answered in style as he dismantled his stumps. Despite having a great start, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed and lost the match by 39 runs.

2. Gautam Gambhir- Kamran Akmal

Gautam Gambhir is considered one of the hottest heads to ever play for India. He had several verbal duals with opposition players in his career. During Asia Cup 2010, he had an altercation with Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal.

It all began when Akmal tried to break Gambhir’s concentration by appealing for caught behind dismissals repeatedly even after the latter hadn’t edged the ball. Gambhir confronted Akmal during the drinks break. Seeing the situation getting heated, the players and the umpires intervened to stop the two.

3. Kiran More – Javed Miandad

This one is from the first-ever India-Pakistan match from the ODI World Cup in 1992. Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More was continuously chirping from behind the stumps which irked the Pakistan batter Javed Miandad. Miandad’s frustration even led him to stop a bowler in his delivery stride and get into a verbal battle with More. Later in the match, Miandad chose to reply More in a funny manner as he imitated his jumps while collecting the ball behind the stumps. The moment is counted among the most iconic moments in the history of the world cup.

4. Harbhajan Singh – Shoaib Akhtar

Both Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar were two of the most aggressive players on the cricket field. They came on to each other during the Asia Cup 2010 match between India and Pakistan. Chasing 268 to win, India required 49 off 29 balls with Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh at the crease.

It further came down to 16 off 12 balls as Akhtar came on to bowl the penultimate over of the match. Harbhajan Smashed a six off the very first ball and hurt Akhtar’s ego, who made a decent comeback and gave only three runs in the rest of the over.

The entire over was full of drama as Akhtar and Harbhajan kept having a go at each other. Harbhajan finished the match in grand fashion in the last over with a six against Mohammad Aamir. There was another heated moment between the two after the game ended as Akhtar was seen doing some gestures at Harbhajan.

Pakistan toured India for a five-match ODI series in 2007. The third match was played in Kanpur where the heat got into the heads of Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi. Gautam Gambhir hit Afridi for a boundary in the 20th over and looked him in the eye. On the next ball, Gambhir hit Afridi with his elbow while running a single which led to things escalating between the two as they hurled abuses at each other. The umpire had to intervene and cool things down.
