Five cricketers who will not be part of Indian T20 League for the first time since 2008

Only a few days are left for the start of the 15th season of the Indian T20 League. The tournament will kick off with a game between Chennai and Kolkata on March 26. Last month, a mega auction was conducted for the team to build their squads for the upcoming season. The teams were looking for players who can play for them for at least four to five years.

This is the reason some of the experienced players didn’t find a team. It is presumed that this might be the end of their careers in the ITL. In this listicle, we will discuss five names, who will not feature in the cash-rich league for the first time since 2008.

Five cricketers who will not feature this year

  1. Piyush Chawla

The leg-spinner has featured in the cash-rich league for Punjab, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai from 2008 to 2021. In this period, he has played 165 games and has picked 157 wickets. Last year, he was released by Mumbai. During the mega auction, he went unsold and is unlikely to be picked unless an injury rules out another leg-spinner.

2. Ab De Villiers

The former South Africa skipper has played for Delhi and Bangalore in the last 14 years. In these years, the right-hander played 184 games and accumulated 5162 runs, averaging 39.70 and striking at 151.68 with three hundreds and 40 fifties. Last year, he bid adieu to the game

3. Amit Mishra

The former India leg-break bowler started with Delhi, then shifted to Hyderabad, before coming back to Delhi again. The 39-year-old has played 154 games and has 166 scalps to his name, including record three hat-tricks. Last year, he was released by Delhi and went unsold in the mega auction.

4. Dhawal Kulkarni

The Mumbai-born player has played for Mumbai and Rajasthan in the first 14 years. The medium-pacer has played 92 games and has 86 victims to his name. Last year, he was released by Mumbai and went unsold this year, which is not surprising given he has played only one game each in the last two seasons.

5. Suresh Raina

Nicknamed as Mr. ITL, he has played for Chennai and Gujarat and amassed 5528 runs in 205 games in his 14-year career. This year, he went unsold. Raina will be seen commentating in the upcoming season.
