In India, people consider cricket as the best sport and the nation has witnessed many legends don the Indian cricket jersey for a long time. Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Kapil Dev, and one can name thousand more players as well. 1) Kapil Dev’s 175:

Kapil Dev won the World Cup for India for the very first time in the year 1983. Since then, it has always been the inspiration for the Indian team whenever they step into the World Cup arena. In the match against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup, Kapil Dev played one of the greatest knocks in Indian history. The Indian team were struggling at 17 for 5 and it was the skipper, who rescued the team with his 175 off 138 balls.

2) MS Dhoni’s 91:

MS Dhoni is a big name in India and is often compared to Kapil Dev for winning the 2011 World Cup. The former Indian great was out of form in the 2011 World Cup but stepped up just at the right time. After promoting himself to number four in the final of the 2011 World Cup, MS Dhoni joined hands with Gautam Gambhir to play one of the greatest knocks in history. He smashed 91 runs off 79 balls and sealed the match with an iconic six to help India collectively lift the World Cup after 28 years alongside his teammates.

3) Sachin Tendulkar’s 241:

Sachin Tendulkar is considered to be the legend of the game and is fondly called as ‘God of Cricket’. The batter, who made his debut at the age of 16, went on to score as many as hundred 100s in the international arena. The Mumbai batter once played a spine-tingling knock in Australia. In the year 2003/04, Tendulkar amassed 241 runs against Australia in Sydney without scoring a single cover drive. He achieved the feat in the fourth Test match of the series.

4) VVS Laxman’s 281:

VVS Laxman is one of India’s underrated heroes. In the longest format of the game, the player stood up for the team on many occasions. India hosted Australia in the year 2001 and Eden Gardens hosted the second Test of the series.  India was trailing in the Test and VVS Laxman stood up to the occasion. The player scored a massive 281 off 452 balls and helped India get a decent lead. The Indian team went on to win the match and this innings became the talk of the town.

5) Virender Sehwag’s 309:

Virender Sehwag is known for his aggression and bowlers had a nightmare bowling to the opener. The former opener has scored many memorable knocks in the history of cricket. However, his 309 against Pakistan in Multan is close to everyone’s heart. In the first Test against Pakistan in the year 2004, Virender Sehwag scored a mammoth 309 off 375 balls and helped India clinch a thumping win.
