There are a bunch of players who believe in giving it back to society which gave them a lot of recognition. Most of these players come from humble backgrounds which might be the reason for their charitable behaviours. The players whom we are talking about have been one of the most charitable and dedicated to doing better for those who don’t have the means.

These players have been respected by a lot of people for their gestures. These charities have helped underprivileged people. However, we have only chosen five athletes out of many. In this listicle, we will have a look at the details of the charities done by the athletes.

The legendary Tennis player supports the education of children in Asia in her role as the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. She also founded the Serena Williams Foundation, which focuses on education, helping kids from impoverished families to make it to college, with funds also paying for legal aid for people at the poverty level.

Serena’s generosity has provided funding for immunization programs in Ghana and schools in Kenya, as well as support for the Elton John Aids Foundation, the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, Hearts of Gold, and much more. 

Cristiano Ronaldo

The 37-year-old is one of the most famous and wealthy soccer players on the planet. He shares his wealth generously with the less fortunate.

Cristiano helps individuals in need of medical assistance as well as organizations and he has given millions to charities that help people in need of health care and recovery after natural disasters. He is also the Save the Children organization’s global ambassador.

Neymar Jr. Project Institute funds the supply of and fresh clean water to those in need. People from the affluent might take these things for granted but people from some countries find it a big deal.

The Brazil player’s charity organization is making a big difference in the health, safety, and comfort of those in areas where clean water is not a luxury.

Glenn McGrath

The former Australia pace spearhead was one of the most feared bowlers around the world. He has taken 563 and 381 wickets in Tests and ODIs, respectively. On the other hand, he has a charitable side to him too.

When his late wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 2000s, the former right-arm pacer started a charity organization ‘The McGrath foundation’ in 2008. Since then, every New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground generates funds for the same cause. The foundation has 143 Breast Care Nurses who provide breast cancer patients with physical and emotional support.

The 2011 World Cup winner was diagnosed with lung cancer right after the tournament. He recovered from the illness and started his foundation named ‘YouWeCan’. The foundation focuses on providing free medical services for cancer patients while also spreading awareness about cancer.

They also focus on creating awareness and removing social stigma about the disease. Anti-tobacco workshops and corporate awareness workshops are the few ways through which they try and achieve this objective.
